The "new" old me?

After a shutdown and a restart I'm trying to go about life with a different attitude, but darn it...it's not easy.
Why is it that it is so much easier to just give in and wallow in self pity? If being strong is the "right" thing to be, why isn't it less difficult to be that way?

While I'm pondering, why is it so easy to be lazy, have a bad diet, be unclean, and give in to the urge to do absolutely nothing?  Why??  Shouldn't it be part of our DNA to be healthy & productive members of society?  I just don't get it.

Anyone have an opinion as to why we're all hell bent on self-destructive habits?

  1. Its all chemistry. Carbs, sugar, caffeine...thye all work to give us short bursts of happiness and joy. But they dont last until we get another 'fix'. By the time we realize it, we are addicted and cant function without it. But their downside is they add on weight and fat which slows us down. If we ate right and exercised all the time, our bodies would crave THAT instead...and it would be easier. But it takes awhile to get into a habit enough to keep it going.

Thats why its easier to diet and exercise and get into go habits with others...we keep each other on track. Thats why we need tolive closer so we can keep each other in check. :)

And nowadays (yeah..that makes me sound old but its true) we add so much extra crap to our lives we feel we need all of the stimulants and then complain because we're tired. Eating healthy...and staying away from artifical sweetners, colors, etc will make you feel better and then you'll WANT to get out more. That and making a decision to turn off the tv, computers, phones and put the effort in to working out or just relaxing quietly or getting more time with those that make us feel good. :)

    Just my two cents.
